These are photos of Jennifer Lawrence at the BFI London festival premiere of Serena, which is JLaw’s third movie with Bradley Cooper. She’s wearing a Dior LBD that’s an adapted version of a men’s tuxedo tuxedo jacket. It’s not terrible, and Jennifer pulls off the ultra low-cut neck. I would prefer a little more tailoring in the waist area, but the dress is supposed to look like menswear. JLaw’s hair looks really cute here. Her makeup artist finally stepped up the game too.
BCoop didn’t attend this premiere. I don’t blame him for skipping because the movie looks frighteningly awful. (The trailer is at the bottom of this post.) I’ve been avoiding talking about Serena because it makes me sad. The film sat on the shelf for years and barely found a distributor. Reviews have not been kind. Variety calls the movie an “arrestingly nihilistic Depression melodrama.” BCoop & JLaw play a married couple who build a timber empire. She’s really cool because she kills rattlesnakes and cuts down trees. Then she can’t bear children, and it turns into a murder mystery? Magnolia Pictures feels confident enough to release Serena on Thanksgiving. We’ll see.
There are several JLaw-related bits of gossip to relay. Let’s start with Jennifer’s chatty grandparents, who are thrilled with Chris Martin. This relationship continues to amuse me because all we’ve seen are blurry pics of them standing by a private jet. We’ve heard plenty from Goop sources and bystanders at Coldplay concerts, but nothing from the two lovebirds themselves. Now JLaw’s grandma and grandpa have spoken to the Sun (via the Mail) about how Chris met JLaw’s mom. He’ll be attending the Lawrence family holiday festivities too. Riiiight:
Jennifer Lawrence has introduced Chris Martin to her parents. The American Hustle actress flew her mother, Karen Lawrence, into Los Angeles to meet her new boyfriend, Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin and they are reportedly already talking about spending the the holiday season together.
Jennifer’s grandparents confirmed this new development in the couple’s relationship to The Sun on Sunday. Her grandmother Carolyn Koch told the newspaper: “Jennifer’s mum flew to Los Angeles to meet Chris. We will have to get another chair for the dinner table at Christmas. The family is getting so big we might have to split up for gatherings.”
The 24-year-old Academy Award winner might be infatuated with her new man, but according to her proud grandfather, Colin Koch, she isn’t so keen on the attention she receives when she goes out.
He explained: “Jennifer doesn’t like the hype. She looks like she really enjoys doing TV interviews but she’s just a great actress.” Colin then added that his granddaughter hasn’t let fame change her fun personality. He told the newspaper: “She hasn’t changed one bit – she is so humble and down to earth.”

Are we really supposed to believe that Chris wouldn’t spend Christmas with his two children? Even if one disregards Goop’s laminated schedule, I have a hard time buying that Chris would skip out on Apple and Moses to fart around the X-Mas tree with JLaw’s parents. They’ll probably do a coupley New Year’s vacation instead. Sorry, grandma.
* The Mail has some really cute photos of Jennifer during her childhood and high school years. She looks like a goofy ham from the very beginning, and her hometown friends dished some stories about prankster JLaw.
* Vanity Fair spoke with a confused Larry David. He appears to have no idea why Jennifer professed her love for him during her VF interview. Larry says he’s way too old for her, and thinks that JLaw must have been talking about her knees when she mentioned “below the belt,”
Here’s that Serena trailer. Burn it with a forest fire.
